The hotel "Bretterbude Büsum" had an awning system from markilux with its own logo fitted in a style that matches the hotel.

Hotel in Büsum provides its guests with protection from the sun, wind and light showers with awnings from markilux

The "Bretterbude Büsum" is a hotel and restaurant in the district of Dithmarschen in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The establishment is part of the Heimathafen Hotels chain, offering casual lifestyle on the North Sea and Baltic coasts as well as in Hamburg. In order to be able to use the grounds regardless of the weather, some of the outdoor areas were fitted with awnings from markilux, their style matching the look of the building.

Büsum is a small town south of St. Peter-Ording. Directly on the dyke promenade, you will find the "Bretterbude Büsum", a hotel and restaurant in Nordic timber construction. It belongs to a chain of hotels that combines individual style with a local, maritime spirit. In order to be able to offer his guests North Sea enjoyment in almost any weather, the owner and managing director had some of the outdoor areas fitted with awnings from markilux.

Awning system had to be wind-resistant

The awning system was installed by the company "Rollo-Möller", a markilux specialist partner based in Hemmingstedt, also in the district of Dithmarschen. According to Michael Ruhnke, the company manager, the owner of the "Bretterbude Büsum" decided to have the outdoor areas designed in different ways. There is a permanently covered outdoor terrace, an open pool area and a patio that is protected by awnings. "That means the guests can decide for themselves where they want to spend their time according to the weather," explains Mr Ruhnke. When selecting the awning system, the client was looking for something that would withstand a certain wind force and at the same time provide good protection from the sun or light rain. markilux stood out here with its "pergola classic", an awning system with lateral guide tracks on slim posts. Several awning field units with integrated LED-Lines now provide shade for around 50 seats over an outside terrace of 70 square metres.

Plenty of room for individual requirements

The customer's individual wishes were incorporated into the design concept. "We integrated the pergola system, that normally stands on posts, into the wooden construction of the building, which really appealed to the hotelier," says Michael Ruhnke. The option of adding a logo to the sun protection covers and the possibility of matching the colour of the awnings to the look of the building also met with approval. "We were able to convince the owner of the "Bretterbude Büsum" that our service, combined with the top-rate products from markilux, is totally reliable," stresses the solar protection expert. Installing awning systems of this type and size on the North Sea is extremely challenging. This is why you need very stable and weather-resistant awning systems as well as qualified partners who are able to supply customised solutions and install them safely and securely.

Colour your summer
Colour your summer
Giving awning covers a touch of summer freshness The world around us seems to have been lacking colour for some time now. Wherever you look, nothing but a range of greys and creams. This trend is dominating the awning world, too. And yet awnings have so much more potential, and in terms of colour could even compete with the flower beds. Today, awning covers tend to be on the inconspicuous side. But markilux feels they could also show a little summer freshness. Colour trends come and go. However, the trend of non-colours seems to be here to stay. The soft cream, grey and anthracite shades have their rightful place in the colour universe. They are discreet, team up well with other things and therefore also go well with bold accent colours. Over
