Lohmar, 07.05.24- The exchange organization international EXPERIENCE e. V. is looking for open families in Germany who can imagine temporarily adding a new family member in the coming school year 24/25: Students from Spain would like to go to school in Germany for between three and nine months and experience German culture for themselves.

Host families share their everyday life

iE provides interested families with detailed information on what is important: host families have one extra person and share their everyday life with the guest. An open heart and a bed are the most important prerequisites for becoming a host family. They receive support from a contact person in the vicinity, as well as a financial allowance. Host families can live in the countryside or in the city, be single parents or extended families, have babies or children already out of the house, the most important thing is to get involved with each other. The young people do not require babysitting services or weekend entertainment, but simply wish to live with a family in Germany.

Host families gain fun and experiences

"The students arrive as guests and then become sons or daughters in the family and friends for life," says Nicola Gillner, host family expert at iE e.V. "Many host families have already experienced this development." The joint activities often bring the families closer together. They are happy to open their home to new inspirations and are proud that someone wants to learn our language and culture. A former host mother describes how her family experienced the time:

* We experienced Germany from our host child's point of view,
* We strengthened our social skills,
* It was nice to experience a new culture within our own four walls,
* We perceived a great enrichment through a broader world view,
* If your own child would like to go on a student exchange, this is an excellent opportunity to prepare for it.

The host family chooses their exchange student

iE advises the family and suggests suitable young people who introduce themselves with an application profile, text, photos and a video. An iE employee will visit you at home in advance to establish personal contact right from the start and answer any questions you may have.

You know a lot about the exchange students beforehand

The exchange students have passed an application procedure at international EXPERIENCE e. V., completed a preparatory course and are curious and motivated to travel to Germany. They also already have a basic knowledge of German. The young people come from middle-class households with a good background.

Interested host families can contact Nicola Gillner from international Experience e.V. for more information. She has a lot of experience in looking after guest students in Germany, has lived abroad herself and hosted guest students, and can help them with all organizational and other issues.
