Demand bundling successful in 8 out of 10 clusters

The signs point to the future: With the ground-breaking ceremony in Wendfelder Damm (Cluster 1), the company epcan is starting the expansion of its own high-performance fiber optic network in Vreden. This symbolic act is the next and important step on the way to comprehensive fiber optic coverage in the city.

The response to the demand pooling carried out in advance was pleasingly high. A sufficient number of Vreden residents opted for a free fiber optic connection from epcan in 8 out of 10 clusters. The required participation rate of 40% was achieved in these areas, meaning that expansion can take place. In the city center area (cluster 6), the quota of 40% could not be achieved. Here, it will be examined on a case-by-case basis whether addresses can be connected to the fiber optic network.

As soon as the civil engineering work in Cluster 1 on Wendfelder Damm has been successfully completed, work will continue in Cluster 3 on Schelver Diek.

Nils Waning, Managing Director of epcan GmbH, expressed his satisfaction with developments to date: "The project has been very well received in Vreden. We are satisfied with the result of the bundling of demand and will continue to give all interested parties the opportunity to benefit from a fiber optic connection."

A particular highlight is the successful "Fiber Heroes" concept introduced by epcan. This gives citizens the opportunity to broker contracts and receive a commission in return. This program was very popular and was used by many.

Interested citizens still have the opportunity to conclude contracts as long as their street has not yet been developed. The aim of this and other projects is to achieve almost 100% coverage in Vreden and thus take a major step towards nationwide coverage.
