New markilux showroom in the "Pacific Design Center" in West HollywoodAfter opening a showroom in New York just over two years ago, markilux has now opened a further flagship store in the US near Los Angeles - in the "Pacific Design Center" in West Hollywood. Since the end of April, the awning manufacturer has been exhibiting many of its products on around 110 square meters in an architecturally spectacular environment and trendy design district.
markilux opened its second showroom in the US at the end of April at the heart of West Hollywood, on the corner of Melrose Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard. The new location, at which the company is presenting a selection of its awning range, is called the "Pacific Design Center" (PDC). This attractive hotspot, which attracts many affluent Californians from the region around Los Angeles, is yet another ideal location for markilux.
International brand variety in the PDC
"You can find us directly on the ground floor of the 'Blue Whale' - one of three architecturally impressive building complexes of the PDC and landmark of West Hollywood," explains Peer Cornelssen, Head of International Sales at markilux. The glass, six-storey blue steel building from the 1970s offers around 70,000 square metres of space to more than 70 international showrooms and stores. They show an exquisite selection of contemporary home and contract furniture, fabrics, floor coverings, designer lamps and products for solar protection. More than 2,000 leading manufacturers are represented in this building with their product lines for both residential and corporate premises.
Showroom offers space for large awnings
Peer Cornelssen is thrilled with the ambience of the location: "The showroom is light, with high ceilings and plenty of daylight. Here, we can also exhibit our large awning systems such as the 'pergola stretch', 'markilux markant' and the 'syncra' system," he explains. Initially, the company will be exhibiting twelve models from its product range, including the "MX-3", the "markilux 6000" and the "markilux 970". Further "MX models" will follow after the opening. The showroom also features equipment required for sales pitches, including fabric samples, light boxes as well as cassette profile samples. The showroom will also offer training sessions for authorised dealers.
West Coast location attracts visitors
Peer Cornelssen explains that the new West Coast location benefits from a rich art and entertainment scene and is part of an international design community. That means many high earners - for example from the film and television industry - live in the region. "The PDC thus attracts lots of people interested in design. Especially as another building houses a film theatre, conference rooms, a fitness centre and the 'Museum of Contemporary Art'," explains the awning expert. Exhibitions, meetings, fashion shows and receptions also regularly attract visitors. In addition, there are many offices in a third glass complex covering around 38,000 square metres. "The almost 150,000 square metre district represents our brand perfectly. And the weather in California is also usually pretty good. That's why we believe that this location offers us the best opportunity to make our product range more well known," says Peer Cornelssen of the choice of the new showroom location in the US.
