MoBiTec's new partner FortiusBio is a US startup biotech firm that does only one thing good: to soak filter paper with proprietary lysis solutions and make cards which lyse cells and preserve nucleic acid (even RNA!) integrity at room temperature.

RNASound™ RNA Extraction Strip Card enables high throughput and quick cell culture RNA extraction for gene transfection and expression screening. The card presents eight 5 mm filter paper discs that were treated with a proprietary lysis buffer. Cells are getting lysed when applied onto the card, and RNA is released during card drying. Discs are easily pushed out and relocated to 96-well plate wells with sterile pipette tips.

RNA is then easily recovered with a brief elution, while most of the gDNA and PCR inhibitors remain bound on the filter paper discs. The RNA eluate is readily suitable for direct lysate RT-PCR with no inhibition. The card system demonstrates equal sensitivity just like traditional organic solvents-based methods, yet is very easy, quick, and environment-friendly since much less plastic waste and absolutely no chemical waste is generated. Furthermore, it is cost-effective, too.

RNASound™ Tissue RNA Preservation Reagent is a colorless chemical solution that quickly permeates small tissue chunks and neutralizes cellular endogenous RNase activities to preserve tissue RNA integrity for long term storage. RNASound™ Tissue RNA Preservation Reagent stabilizes tissue RNA for up to one week at room temperature, or 1 month at 4 °C, or even longer at -20 °C or -80 °C.

LyseNow® Food Pathogen Listeria DNA Extraction Strip Cards feature proprietary lysis buffer impregnated filter paper discs that are assembled between two transparent PET layers and spaced out to align with one row of a 96 well plate format. The filter paper discs lyse listeria cells on contact to release DNA contents.
