Light ensures that you feel safe and comfortable on your patio, even at night. As well as being built into a wall or the surface of a patio, awnings are also well suited for being equipped with lighting. To this end, markilux offers a wide range of LED systems that encourage you to continue enjoying warm summer nights outside long after the sun has set.

Awnings are a smart means of protecting against the intense rays of the sun and high temperatures, but they can also prove useful in the evening. Fitted with LED spotlights, they create a cosy atmosphere. Depending on the type and function, the lighting can provide accentuating, atmosphere-creating or very bright light. The LED systems from awning specialist markilux are a perfect example of this and can be combined with a number of awning types.

Expressive to discreet LED lighting
These systems include pivoting, infinitely variable high quality spotlights. Depending on the model and awning width, up to six spotlights can be attached to the front profile or cover cassette of an awning or to the lighting bar of a pergola awning. They project a discreet cone of light onto the façade as well as attractively accentuating the look of the fabric cover. By contrast, the dimmable LED Line from markilux produces a consistent, linear strip of light. "Depending on the type of awning, it is attached either to the cassette, to the guide tracks, to a lighting bar or to the side of the arms of some of our folding-arm awnings. The light shines downwards, illuminating the cover or the wall of the house indirectly," says Michael Gerling, Director of R&D and Production. He explains that both LED systems can be operated by remote control and via the "TaHoma Switch" smart home system app by Somfy. Furthermore, there is a light strip, the LED Spotline, that can be mounted wherever you wish. It is available with up to five spotlights in a length of 180 or 300 centimetres. The "MX-1 compact" has its own lighting option, as the front styling profile can be expressively back-lit with ambient lighting.

New MX-4 with special lighting effects
First and foremost the MX models, all pergola awnings and the "markilux markant" as well as certain folding-arm awnings can be fitted with different combinations of LED systems. The "MX-4" offers a particularly wide range of lighting options. In addition to entirely new spotlighting, an LED Line can also be integrated. Furthermore, optional LEDs can also be found in the outer ends of the awning, with separate matching lights in the same design as the model for installation on the wall of a house. A special lighting technology is also employed that uses different light sources. This allows the colour of the LED lighting to be changed to suit the situation so that the user can create a warm, colourful or cool colour scene via io radio technology or an app.

A host of reasons for awnings with LED lighting
According to Michael Gerling, the extensive repertoire of energy-efficient LED lamps, in particular the dimmable versions, primarily offer atmosphere-creating lighting scenarios ideal for cosy get-togethers. "Depending on how you want to spend your time outside, our LED Spots can also create ideal reading conditions or illuminate a façade to great effect," stresses the director. And it should also be noted that a well-lit patio can create a feeling of safety in the evening, with no fear of stumbling in the dark. Mr Gerling believes that there are therefore numerous reasons for fitting an awning with a lighting system tailored to the individual needs of the consumer.
