The "MX-4" by markilux combines futuristic design with modern LED technology

With the "MX-4" markilux remains true to its aim of developing product design that expresses itself fluently. Connected by simple, clean lines, the look of the new awning is somewhere between round and angular. Furthermore, with its modern LED technology, it opens up a new perspective on coloured lighting scenarios for the patio.

Sophisticated design is a 'must' for every markilux product explains Michael Gerling, Director of R&D and Production. "It is the 'leitmotif' that runs through our range. And something that is made particularly clear in the MX product family," he adds. It comes as no surprise that the new cassette awning "MX-4" also continues along this course with its avant-garde look.

Appearance with vibrant contrasts
"With this product, we once again wanted to combine shape and colour in an exciting way. The starting point for this is a conically shaped cassette that stands out conspicuously on the façade. We have emphasised this further with an allround styling panel," says Mr Gerling. It closes the housing effectively at the front and continues round into the end caps. The styling panel and cassette can be combined in all seven of the manufacturer's standard colours and also with individual non-standard colours for the cassette. This creates a vibrant contrast and underlines the shape that is somewhere between round and angular. But as if that wasn't enough, the subject of colour in the "MX-4" is played with using another creative instrument - the design of its lighting.

Large selection of LED lighting options
The first thing you notice in this respect is the wide range of LED lighting that is available for this model. The dimmable LED Line is a well-known product from the company. It is recessed in a multi-functional groove on the underside of the cassette. From May, there will be a further option available making it possible to mount up to six swivelling and rotating, newly developed spots on the inside of the front profile depending on the awning size. The idea of integrating LEDs into the outer ends of the cassette is also creative. They create a cone of light that can shine upwards or downwards. "We take up this beautiful effect in the form of specially developed, separate lights in the design of the awning and which is played onto the façade," says the Director of R&D and Production.

Coloured lighting scenario on the façade
Michael Gerling explains that the special lighting technology is a genuine highlight. It can be used to change the colour of the LED elements to suit the mood and occasion as, alongside normal, warm white light sources, they are also available in RGB warm white. They can either be operated using the in-built io radio technology with a hand-held transmitter or using special apps from the smart systems "Philips Hue" or Somfy "TaHoma Switch". Operation is also possible via voice control. Individual warm, colourful scenarios or alternatively cool colour scenes can be programmed using these apps.

Durable technology plus attractive look
Along with its modern shape and the special light design, the "MX-4" relies on its durable technology and size. The maximum dimensions available are 600 by 400 centimetres or 700 by 350 centimetres, with the awning also on offer as a coupled unit. The sturdy folding arms are equipped with a low-maintenance, quiet bionic tendon. The model also features tilt device technology in the folding arms whereby the front profile swings upwards during retraction, ensuring that the housing closes in a visually attractive way. "Together with concealed face fixture brackets and a flush connection to the house façade, this ensures a very aesthetically pleasing appearance. And with the special composition of shape and colour, I believe we have succeeded in creating an exciting two-pronged approach in the new model," Michael Gerling notes.
