Tokyo, Japan, July 29, 2014 – Simufact Engineering and MSC Software Ltd.
(MSC Japan) have concluded a partnership for the sales of Simufact software
solutions in Japan. MSC Japan is the second reseller of Simufact software
in Japan next to Simufact´s longstanding partner NTT Data Engineering
Systems Corporation (NDES).

Simufact has been cooperating closely with MSC Software since its founding
in 1995: From the beginning, Simufact has trusted solvers from MSC Software
for its solver technology, the core of the simulation software.

Simufact.welding is a high performance Finite Element-based software for
the simulation of welding processes, allowing for elastic-plastic material
behavior to be modeled. Simufact.welding has the following features:

1)Model creation based on CAD data (Parasolid, STEP) or mesh import of
Nastran Bulk Data Files, additionally automatic generation for filler
materials

2)Import of robot weld path definitions

3)Clamping devices realistically represent heat transfer and mechanical
boundary conditions (stiffness, friction, and separation)

4)Heat source models for Gas, Laser, and Electron Beam Welding

5)Highly accurate material database

6)Representation of phase transformations behavior

7)High performance and stability of the solution by embedded Marc, MSC’s
nonlinear implicit solver

8)Ease-of-use GUI for welding engineers and visualization of the
distortions and residual stresses after cooling and unclamping

Stefan Zimmer, Director Channel Operations at Simufact, explains: ‘We
expect a significantly rising demand for simulation solutions on the
Japanese market. Therefore, we are strengthening our local presence with
this step.’ Japan is already the strongest foreign sales market for
Simufact products today, with more than 80 user companies. It was only in
May this year, that Simufact opened a representative office in Tokyo.

Tekehiko Kato, President of MSC Software Ltd., says: ‘In parallel to
improve design quality, the time and cost for prototyping and production
might be significantly reduced by determining the production methodologies
through resolving the problems, which have been assumed as the issues in
prototyping or production stage, at design cycle. From such a perspective,
we decided to focus on welding simulation first and begin to provide
Simufact.welding, which is set to be the de facto standard in the German
automotive industry, to Japanese customers, not only automotive industry
but also broader industries such as construction machineries, heavy
industry, electrical/electronics industry, metal processing industry and
their suppliers. In addition to sales activities for Simufact.welding, we
will initiate product-related services, such as training, technical support
and consultations in order to make our customers easily and smoothly
implement this new technology.

In cooperation with NTT DATA ENGINEERING SYSTEMS, we are delighted to
introduce Simufact.welding of Simufact Engineering, a global technical
partner of MSC, to Japanese customers. We will further promote the product
design innovation through advance simulation technologies.

Michael Wohlmuth, Managing Director and CEO of simufact engineering gmbh,
says: ‘We know that the strong Japanese automotive industry – in the same
manner as the German automotive companies – would like to optimize their
welding technology in serial production and are in need of the suitable
tools. MSC Japan and we see great growth potential for the application of
our software. The technologically advanced production with high quality
standards in Japan encourages the use of simulation software for the
process design and optimization.’

The just completed product version Simufact.welding 4 is expected to be
available as a Japanese language version at the beginning of August 2014.
Near by the launch of the new version 4, MSC Japan will be offering an
introducing webinar into Simufact.welding:
