Medicare Open Enrollment Ends In One Week

Best Medicare insurance resources for seniors

Best Medicare insurance resources for seniors

The opportunity for millions of Americans to switch Medicare plans ends in a week on December 7th according to the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance (AAMSI).

"Once a year Medicare gives Americans an opportunity to compare their current plan and freely switch to a plan that will offer better coverage for 2023," explains Jesse Slome, director of the Medicare-focused organization. A recent study from the organization found that many fail to take advantage.

"Over 30 million Americans have a stand-along Medicare prescription drug plan," Slome notes. "These plans almost always change how much they charge and what drugs they cover. The typical senior who switches plans stands to save between $500 and $700 next year."

The Association makes available access to a free online portal that enables seniors to find the best Medicare drug plan for 2023. To view the tool, go to https://medicaresupp.org/medicare-drug-plan-compare-2023/.

"In addition, millions of individuals with Medicare Advantage plans, also known as Medicare Part C, should evaluate their 2023 coverage," Slome advises. "Many plans are adding new benefits that can be of significant value." The organization provides an online directory listing local Medicare insurance agents.

"Medicare is a national program but plans are local in nature," Slome stresses. "A Medicare insurance agent in your specific area will know which plans people like and can be so much more helpful than calling an anonymous operator at the end of a toll-free number." To access the directory, go to https://medicaresupp.org/find-local-agent/. There is no charge and no personal information is needed to access the directory.
