Find Best Medicare Insurance Plans In Your Zip Code

Find Best Medicare Insurance Plans In Your Zip Code

A free online directory hosted by the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance connects seniors with local Medicare insurance professionals.

"Medicare is a national program but Medicare plan options are local," explains Jesse Slome, director of the national organization. "Finding the best Medicare option for your needs and budget is a lot more complex than just calling a toll-free number advertised on television."

According to the Medicare insurance expert, the typical seniors will have between 20 and 40 different Medicare Advantage plans to choose from. "In addition, there can be as many as 20 different insurers offering Medicare Supplement or Medigap plans," Slome adds. "In addition to all of this, you may have to think about a Medicare prescription drug plan that should be based on which specific medications you take."

Finding the best Medicare plan option is complex. "Every day some 11,000 Americans turn age 65 and must make a choice," Slome notes. "While Medicare does have provisions for changing plans, it's not always possible. There are rules that apply and even these can vary from state to state,"

The Association offers the leading online directory that lists Medicare agents by Zip Code. "Access is free but more important, it is completely private," Slome stipulates. "No personal information need be entered to see the listing and read about the agent's background."

Slome acknowledged that today more Americans enroll in Medicare Advantage (MA) or Medicare Part C plans. "The television ads tout the fact that some MA plans have zero premium," Slome states. "But zero premium does not mean zero potential cost if and when you need medical care. That comes as a big surprise to many."
