City Hall Magdeburg: Green Cities - Green Industries - The Magdeburg Conference 2013

Berlin, 1.12.2013 - Magdeburg , Saxony -Anhaltin's state capital and well known in Germany as one of the most dynamic regions in the heart of Europe, was once again host of the "Green Cities-Green Industries - The 2nd. Magdeburg Conference" on urban infrastructure, energy efficiency , green, and new technologies and the creation of highly skilled "green jobs " . Guests and Delegations from more than 10 countries joint the conference and the initiative for international networking among metropolitan areas. The Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office Mrs. Cornelia Pieper opened the conference as a representative of the federal government and at the same time the Foreign Office, which actively supports the metropolis dialogue. Major areas of focus of the conference were the forums "green jobs ", " engineering cluster ", " Green Cities Innovations" , " logistics " and " networks " .
The organizers , the state capital and it`s " International Bureau" , the German Global Trade Forum Berlin and the network initiative " Netherlands - central Germany eV " confirm newly established contacts and many invitations made by the guest cities to continue the dialog abroad in Europe, Central Asia and Asia.
Large and small communities share many challenges and the needs to provide effective and efficient solutions as well. Future solutions for logistics and mobility issues as well as the design of the waste, water and energy management are of international importance. Particular attention was paid accordingly also the contributions of the delegations of the Deputy Minister of Mongolia for the Construction Industry and the Urban Urban Development, the Governor of Bangkok, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office , the Republic of Tajikistan, the mayor of the city of Wiener Neustadt ( Austria ) , Uralsk ( Kazakhstan) , and Zaporizhia Ukraine as well as the governor of West Kazakhstan. For Vice - Mayor Li Shumin the Municipality of Zibo, internationally known as the home of the football game , the visit of Germany and the technology partner city of Magdeburg was also a question of heart . Good relations to Germany are of great importance for Chinas development. Zibo, in Shandong located is an industrial center along the railway once build by the German Empire line from " Qingdao - Jinan ", today one of the speed tracks of modern trains in China.

On behalf of the economic department of Magdeburg Municipality, Rainer Nitsche , discussions and contributions of the participants proved to be prompt and inspiration at the same time , actively take up the issue of a local contribution to global climate protection. After the rather modest results of the World Climate Conference , it is the duty of all responsible decision-makers worldwide to make a both active and measurable contribution to climate protection at the local level itself . The initiative of a "Magdeburg 2020 agenda on climate change " is both, municipal goal and shared responsibility of all interested in the dialogue around these issues. End of 2014 is the 3rd Green Cities Green Industries Conference is planned by Magdeburg and it`s partners in the organization of the conference. By then, relations with the participating cities and communities from around the world to be intensified.
