An All-out effort is being made to Infuse the Holy Spirit into the 61st General Conference Session; but will it be Successful?
On Monday morning, June 6, 2022, the opening of the 61st General Conference Session began in St. Louis, MO. The theme that would set the tone for the entire session was the Holy Spirit and the Latter Rain. Ted Wilson, Mark Finley, Barry Black, Dwight Nelson and others spoke out strongly, arguing that we need the Latter Rain and that we can have it to finish the work if we just ask.The song "Spirit of the Living God" was then sung several times. Following each speaker, attendees were given time to pray together and in groups of two or three for the Holy Spirit. So there were several seasons of prayer, both as a body and in small groups.
It seemed to me that they were putting in an excessive amount of effort to show the world church that they were doing everything they could to receive the Latter Rain while ignoring the most important aspect. One of the most crucial requirements for receiving the Latter Rain was completely overlooked. Notice what God says:
"I was shown that if God's people make no efforts on their part, but wait for the refreshing to come upon them and remove their wrongs and correct their errors; if they depend upon that to cleanse them from filthiness of the flesh and spirit, and fit them to engage in the loud cry of the third angel, they will be found wanting. The refreshing or power of God comes only on those who have prepared themselves for it by doing the work which God bids them, namely, cleansing themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (Testimonies, Vol. 1, p. 619).
As difficult as the job is, if we don't confront apostasy or if we just want to put this issue aside and ignore it, then all this talk about the Holy Spirit is completely useless. The Latter Rain will never come to us. Despite God's imperative to do so, this critical point about correcting wrongs is never raised or addressed. We can pray seven times a day for the Latter Rain, and we can preach all day about receiving the Holy Spirit "till the cows come home," but if we ignore sin and error, we will never receive the Holy Spirit's power to finish God's work. That is exactly what God says.
The mere fact that we are having a General Conference Session in 2022 is proof that something is wrong. Why are we still here? Why hasn't God given us the Latter Rain? The question should be: Why should God give us the Latter Rain while so many are busy building coalitions with Rome, aligning with globalists and promoting their policies on ecumenism, feminism, Romanism, radical environmentalism, the LGBT+ agenda and a host of other liberal, Marxist ideas? If God gave us His Latter Rain power, would we use it to benefit God or to benefit Rome and help build up their universal fraternity?
"Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement. Then the latter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the Day of Pentecost" (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 214).
"I saw that none could share the 'refreshing' (Latter Rain) unless they obtain the victory over every besetment, over pride, selfishness, love of the world, and over every wrong word and action. We should, therefore, be drawing nearer and nearer to the Lord and be earnestly seeking that preparation necessary to enable us to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord. Let all remember that God is holy and that none but holy beings can ever dwell in His presence" (Early Writings, p. 71).
God desires for His Spirit to influence and control His entire church. This means that the floodgates of sin, rebellion, and apostasy that we see in the church today must be replaced with victorious people who have the life-changing Spirit controlling their lives, and who will then be fit to be translated to heaven. When God can find people like this, He will pour out the Latter Rain on them. This is something that all of heaven is looking forward to. This is what God has been waiting for. This is what the faithful 7,000 who haven't bowed their knees to Baal are pleading for, day and night. May the Lord make us into those people and finish His work.

Let Us Stop Avoiding the Real Issues
As the 2025 General Conference Session convenes, with believers from around the world watching and praying, there is an unmistakable sense of frustration among many of the faithful. While we will be given lectures about returning our tithes and offerings-as outlined in the proposed 2025 Church Manual agenda-we must ask ourselves: is this truly the burning concern on the hearts of God's remnant people at this critical hour in history?

In a recent symposium in New York City, scientists who both believed and disbelieved in God discussed the problematic issue of science and religion.
