Cuculus awarded landmark Smart Energy Metering project in Romania
DEER SA awarded the contract to consortium partners including Cuculus GmbH, Elsaco Solutions, and Simetrix Business Software. The contract covers the implementation of an Intelligent Electricity Distribution System for the electrical grid in the 18 counties where DEER SA operates.
The landmark contract, valued at over 78.6 million RON, includes the deployment of Cuculus ZONOS IoT Platform for MDC (Meter Data Collection) and MDM (Meter Data Management) as well as a range of professional services including operations for the entire distribution network over the course of eight years.

Mrs Anca Bejenariu, Contract manager at Simetrix said: "We are aligned with DEER's vision regarding digital transformation in the energy sector. The project involves the integration of all measuring equipment in the three operational areas of the DEER into an integrated and centralised measurement data management system. The implementation of the MDM & MDC system will significantly contribute to the improvement of the distribution service and to the reduction of technical and commercial losses."
