Press release from: American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance

Free online directory enables consumers to find local Medicare insurance agents

The leading national directory listing local Medicare insurance agents and brokers is preparing for the upcoming Medicare Open Enrollment.

"Medicare's annual enrollment period begins October 15 and is the time when millions of Americans have the opportunity to compare and switch plans," explains Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance.

The organization makes available the only focused national online directory that allows consumers to access a listing of insurance agents in their Zip Code who specialize in Medicare insurance. "Medicare's annual enrollment is a true benefit for consumers because of the ability to switch many coverages to either get better benefits, pay less premium or both," Slome notes. "However, making the comparison is not always a simple process and it really can be helpful to work with a knowledgeable specialist."

"Open enrollment lasts only 54 days and the number of specialists who offer free consulting is limited," he adds. "Waiting to start the process may mean you just won't have enough time to investigate your options, leaving you stuck with the wrong plan for another year."

The Association's online directory lists insurance professionals by Zip Code. "Agents indicate whether they can advise on both Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans," Slome notes. "A new feature coming before annual enrollment begins will allow consumers to easily compare their prescription drug plan options."
