New integrated LED lighting for awnings

An LED Line lighting strip ensures cosy evenings on balconies and patios

Awnings are no longer only used for the sole purpose of providing protection from the sun. They also offer homely comfort in the evening, as the awning cover retains the residual heat of the day for longer. And that means you can spend hours outside. Warm, accentuated lighting, a feature of many awnings today, makes for a cosy atmosphere. Four models from manufacturer markilux are now available with a new LED lighting system in the folding arms.

Light has always been important for mankind. It provides us with energy, keeps us healthy and lets us be active longer. As long ago as prehistoric times, people would spend their evenings together, well protected, around an open fire. And that has not changed as we still love to end the day bathed in pleasantly lit surroundings. That is why markilux has equipped its awnings models 1300, 1600, 1700 and 1710 with a so-called LED Line in the folding arms. According to Michael Gerling, Director of R&D and Production, the light skilfully highlights the awning fabric.

LED system ensures appealing atmosphere

“The LED Line is recessed into the side of the folding arms. This allows the light to shine downward and provide indirect illumination of the cover, creating a very special lighting atmosphere,” explains Mr Gerling. Depending on how bright the effect should be, the light can be dimmed manually or optionally using 868 MHz io technology via radio operation. The LED system is encased in a special, pale white, transparent silicone profile in order to be able to reflect the largest possible amount of light. “The replaceable LEDs are supplied with power at the central arm joint via electric cables that have been given extra protection. The LED Lines run almost invisibly along the articulated arms and effectively light up the wall of a house,” says Michael Gerling. The new lighting option is therefore suitable for private homes as well as for large contract assignments because it creates a cosy atmosphere under the awning.
