In the ‘format lift’, markilux is bringing out a new screen system

The ‘format lift’ by markilux is a fashionably designed privacy and wind protection screen which forms part of the ‘format’ series of products. The screen consists of an aluminium frame covered by a tensioned piece of fabric which can be slid up and down on lateral posts. The ‘lift’ version of the format can be used as a stand-alone solution on the patio, in an open space or alternatively employed as a stylish border feature. It is modular in design and can be used therefore in many situations.

Sun and wind and a lack of privacy can dampen one's enthusiasm for spending time on the patio. And it is simply not always possible to plant a hedge or put up a high fence to provide the desired protection. And this is where the height-adjustable system ‘format lift” from markilux comes into its own. It offers varying degrees of privacy and is particularly suitable for exposed areas where reliable wind and weather protection is required - in both domestic and commercial settings.

The sections slide vertically

The ‘lift’ version consists of an aluminium frame - as do the other ‘format’ models. But in this case, the screen section has been split in two. A lower screen section is firmly fixed inside lateral posts up to a height of one metre and serves as a permanent visual barrier. Directly behind that sits another frame, which can be slid effortlessly and steplessly up and down between the posts. The moveable frame is attached to the lateral posts by invisible connecting brackets. It seems to glide along them as if it were floating, especially since a counterweight holds it effortlessly in balance. ‘Unlike a static solution, you can simply slide the moving section up. And, if the circumstances change, you simply slide it back down again’, explains Michael Gerling, Director of R&D and Production at markilux. Both frames can be covered with a wide choice of the awning fabrics offered by the manufacturer. For a clear view, a full foil window can also be integrated.

A choice of two post heights

An individual screen section is available in widths between one and two and a half metres. Since it is a modular system, Mr. Gerling points out, several sections can even be combined to create a beautifully shaped border. There are special brackets which solve the problem of going around corners. If the height of the posts is kept to a height of 100 centimetres, the privacy and weather protection screen can be raised to a maximum height of 170 centimetres. Alternatively, there is version in which the posts are190 centimetres high which is then also the maximum height of the screen.

A durable and versatile system

Visually, the ‘format lift’ is characterised by its simple elegance as the cover finishes flush with the frame. Furthermore, the awning cover and foil window can be retensioned and replaced if necessary, which gives the product a particularly long service life. All the fabric qualities offered by markilux are available for use in the screen system. Moreover, the customer can also choose from a multitude of patterns right up to and including those in the new ‘smart art collection’ consisting in artistically designed, printed motifs. Customers can even have the covers branded with their company logo. In addition, the ‘format lift’ can be combined with other markilux products such as the so-called awning roof, ‘markilux markant’, the new ‘pergola stretch’ or the ‘syncra’ model.
