And again: eps rocks at the Ring and in the Park

Low temperatures and forecasts of heavy rainfall have never managed to put off any true festival fan. As was again proven during the weekend of 1st – 3rd June, 2012. A possibly record-breaking number of spectators – 86,500 – were counted by the event organiser Marek Lieberberg at his cult festival "Rock am Ring" or, for short, "RAR", which was held at the Nurburgring in Germany's Eifel mountains, and another 70,000 came to the "Rock im Park" festival, "RIP" for short, which took place at the same time at the Zeppelinfeld, Nuremberg. Headliner groups such as the "Tote Hosen" and "Metallica" rewarded their fans for braving the rain and cold, rocking along with them right to the end.

Again there, behind the scenes, was eps, infrastructure supplier and service provider.

eps sent over 100 lorry-loads of equipment to the Nurburgring alone. The eps team, 38 strong, composed of supervisors and stagehands, co-ordinated the installation and dismantling.

A new item in eps' repertoire this year was its truck gates. These gates are a further development of the GIBS stage barriers, which have already proven their worth, and they are used to act as entries for production vehicles such as lorries and delivery vans, as pressure resistant crash barriers front of house, and also as admissions and exit gates before and after an event.
These new truck gates are totally compatible with all the elements in the GIGS series, and can be linked firmly to them. The total width of such a gate corresponds exactly to that of four GIGS standard elements. This feature makes it easy to calculate the number required when planning an event and allows them to be integrated seamlessly into the barrier landscape. The truck gates, with a total access width of 3.2 m, allow vehicles to pass through with room to spare.

An item now for the second time on eps' list of things to do was to supply all the sanitary facilities needed backstage at "Rock am Ring". eps' "SPLASH" division supplied, installed and managed 64 toilet containers, 130 mobile showers and 110 WCs in the various containers and mobile toilet vans.
Besides all this, eps also supplied this year's "RAR" with over 20,500 barriers such as stage barriers, including special elements, mobile fences, police barriers and crowd-control barriers, 150 entrance gates, 700 m of cable protectors, 3,000 m² of ground protection such as Remopla and plywood panels, and various fork-lift trucks, golf cars and utility vehicles which did double duty as production vehicles and to shuttle VIPs back and forth.
eps supplied its equipment not only to the organisers - Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur – but also to the local caterers, the merchandisers and various sponsors.

And for "RIP" it supplied an additional 8,500 m² of the turf protection system, Portafloor.
