New eDiscovery Tools for Faster and Smarter Team Review

Affordable cloud eDiscovery service GoldFynch had just released a major update adding a formidable set of tools to its document review arsenal.

Review sets let users assemble groups of documents for batch review. These sets can be generated from saved searches constructed in the platform's powerful search engine, or from groups of files that are labelled (known as "tagging" in the app.) Once a set is loaded in the platform's inbuilt Document Viewer, individual documents can be cycled through. As a reviewer moves from one file to the next the list of viewed documents updates in real-time, indicating to all collaborators which documents have been reviewed, as well as their individual contributions. The service allows for unlimited free collaborators on a case (pricing is exclusively based on case volume) so this feature provides an excellent framework for collaborative document review.

The other major feature in the update introduces tagging macros - a series of instructions that can be run to quickly add and remove tags during review with a single keystroke. The macros can be run by any user viewing a file in the Document Viewer. A trigger button opens up a list of available macros in the case, and hitting a letter assigned to the corresponding macro will run it. The macros themselves can be created by case administrators and have a number of options to fast-track the application of the tags, like automatically adding default text to assigned tags, or by moving on to the next file in a review set after a macro is run.

The new systems streamline the document review process, and the platform has further plans for the automation of manual eDiscovery tasks.
