In a bid to save the environment and promote greenery the concept of plantable Ganeshji has been around for some time.
The culture of installing an idol of lord Ganesha is a tradition and has been going on for years together. The idols are made of Clay or Plaster of Paris and also painted with commercial paints to give it a real to life look and charm. The other side of the problem is the materials and the finishing products going towards the preparation of the idol are toxic and also not good for the nature may it be soil or the sea.
As the lord is known for his power to impart wisdom, people started making clay and soluble Ganesh idols. Some added more value by adding some manure and plantable seeds along so that once the Idol is immersed in a pot by pouring water on it will allow the seeds to start growing up.
Some people have come with even more ideas of seed Ganesha with the choice of plants also so that the devotees can have something from the plants growing up at their places post immersion of the idol at home.
