Mel Ramos | Rare and sold out pieces on view at GALERIE FRANK

Nuremberg in May 2020.

Galerie Frank Fluegel with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbuehel shows the last copies of rare Mel Ramos prints which are out of print almost everywhere.

Among them rare works like Havana, Cohiba, Lola Cola, Caramia Caramello, Zebra and many more.

Mel Ramos was born on July 24, 1935 in California and is one of the most important representatives of American contemporary art and Pop Art. His works can be found today in all important museums of the world, such as the Albertina/Vienna or the MOMA/New York.

He developed his style in the 1960s, strongly influenced by comic figures and superheroes of the time such as Batman, Superman or Cat Women From 1963 onwards, he began to develop his central theme in his oeuvre:
Pin-up girls in combination with typical advertising motifs and branded articles. With this he parodies the trivial glamour gestures of the advertising industry until today.

Mel Ramos died of heart failure on October 14, 2018 in the Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, California.

Galerie Frank Fluegel with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbuehel is focused on high-quality originals of Pop Art, Street Art and Contemporary Art.
You will find works of art by Alex Katz, Mel Ramos, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol or Julian Opie in the inventory. But also editions and prints by Harland Miller, Katherine Bernhardt, David Shrigley, Sean Scully, Gerhard Richter, Ross Bleckner, Allen Jones, Thomas Ruff, David Gerstein, Peter Doig, Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Raqib Shaw and Robert Longo. Also other street art artists such as Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, Fringe and John Crash Matos. Of course also design objects by Maurizio Cattelan, Paul Smith, Richard Orlinski or Philippe Starck.
Exhibitions take place in regular rotation in the centrally located shops in Nuremberg and Kitzbuehel. International trade fair participations round off the programme.
