New analog interpolation circuit and trade fair premiere of the vibration sensors.

The AMAC ASIC and microsensor application Chemnitz GmbH is exhibiting for the first time this year at the SPS smart production solutions from November 23-25 in Nuremberg. The main focus will be on a new analog interpolation circuit and the trade fair premiere of vibration sensors.

New analog interpolation circuit

Encoders are the most important pillar of position and angle measurement in automation. With increasing customer requirements in terms of accuracy, the optical and magnetic processes used in the encoders reach their physical limits despite the high levels of accuracy. The AMAC interpolation circuits interpolate the analog measurement signals up to 8192 times and offer manufacturers of position and angle measurement systems the opportunity to increase the accuracy of their systems by a configurable factor. The interpolated signal can be output as an ABZ, SSI, BiSS or SPI signal.
The analog interpolator AM-AIP4k, which was newly presented at the PLC, offers, in addition to the previously offered digital output interfaces, an additional analog output that provides sine, cosine and reference signals generated by digital signal synthesis. The output signal can be configured in the range from 250 to 340mV. An improved input circuit makes it possible to dispense with the upstream connection of external signal conditioning. The circuit offers a configurable interpolation rate in the range from 4 to 4096 and includes an EEPROM for internal storage of the configuration.

MEMS-based vibration sensors

The machine park is the backbone of the manufacturing economy. Avoiding unnecessary failures through continuous vibration detection is a core topic of predictive maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0 applications. Powerful sensors are a prerequisite for the implementation of these applications. AMAC will be presenting MEMS-based vibration sensors for condition monitoring applications at the SPS. These sensors record the measuring range of +/- 180g in the frequency range up to 8kHz and +/- 720g up to a limit frequency of 20kHz in parallel, so that not only occurring operating vibrations but also crashes of tool spindles can be reliably detected. The sensors are available in single and three-axis versions and provide the measurement data via CAN or SPI. In addition to a cast stainless steel housing, the sensors are also available in the form of a stack consisting of a MEMS sensor and charge amplifier circuit for integration into your own products.
