Salt Lake City, Utah, August 22, 2011 - Stevens-Henager College offers two new bachelor’s degrees in computer science: the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Information Systems Security Emphasis, and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Social Media Technology Emphasis.

Currently, employers are looking for candidates who bring to the table vital technological and computing expertise, as well as a strong set of soft skills. Furthermore, IT graduates with a strong foundation in programming and networking who also have specialized training in a specific niche of the computing field are sought after. Both of the programs boast a well-rounded curriculum that is designed to prepare students to succeed in their chosen profession. In order to ensure that students receive a well-rounded, holistic education, the program also offers courses such as writing, interpersonal communication, psychology, and economics.

Each degree has a unique focus, in order to give students the opportunity to pursue their particular interests, and designed to award them an edge over other IT graduates.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Information Systems Security Emphasis allows the student to delve into security concepts and management, cryptography, threats and defense mechanisms, computer forensics, computer law, and ethical hacking, thereby enabling them to serve the vital function of protecting IT systems from being tampered with, infiltrated, or destroyed, and preventing information leaks.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Social Media Technology Emphasis includes courses such as web design, web development, web programming, web architecture concepts, and mobile application development, and requires completion of a Social Media Technologist Capstone. This curriculum has been developed to train students with the web-based and mobile technologies that turn internet communication into interactive dialogue.
