airberlin continues as premium sponsor of Fortuna Düsseldorf Airline extends sponsorship agreement by a further two years
The airline’s support for the club dates back to as far as 2005 – and after two years of sponsorship further extensive measures were agreed in June 2009, giving airberlin premium sponsor status.
“Long-lived partnerships in the area of sports sponsorship are an important marketing element for airberlin. Our cooperation with Fortuna Düsseldorf, which we have steadily developed, has already been in existence since 2005. We are hopeful for the future and are pleased to be at the club’s side for a further two years. North Rhine-Westphalia is one of the key regions for airberlin, with Düsseldorf airport being and remaining an important hub. We are convinced that this is reflected in our commitment to sport in NRW and that it brings our airline closer to the people living in this part of the country. We hope that the team will be just as strong in the coming season as it was in the last one, and we are looking forward to exciting matches,” remarked André Rahn, Marketing Director at airberlin.
The close cooperation between the club and the company has grown steadily over many years. Various joint activities and promotions at different club levels have now become established, from presentation of the airline within the stadium to setting up the airberlin fan sofa on the sidelines and providing plane tickets for away matches. In the spring of 2001 the airline acquired the right to name the mobile stadium in the Arena sports park “airberlin world”, thereby committing itself to even closer ties with Fortuna Düsseldorf.
