CMIS Plugfest 2011: WeWebU OpenWorkdesk Successfully Runs on Further CMIS Repositories

Press release from: WeWebU Software AG

Herzogenaurach, 06/06/2011 – WeWebU Software AG, a manufacturer of standard software unleashing enterprise information and a member of the OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) Technical Committee (TC), successfully tested its flagship product OpenWorkdesk against further CMIS repositories at the CMIS Plugfest in Redmond, Washington, USA. In addition, the meeting focused on the further development of the CMIS standard, in which WeWebU is deeply involved.

In late May, the so called CMIS Plugfest provided a chance for different Enterprise Content Management (ECM) vendors to test the interoperability of their clients and servers. About 20 TC members – whether on-site at the Microsoft campus or attending via internet and telephone – used that opportunity. WeWebU tested its OpenWorkdesk and Zero-Install Desktop Integration very successfully against further CMIS repositories including IBM Content Manager, EMC Documentum and Open Text. Tests against the latest versions of both IBM FileNet P8 and Alfresco ECM rounded off the success.

“CMIS has proven to be a really sustainable standard”, stresses James Michel, Technical Product Manager at WeWebU, and adds: “But like it is with most things, there can still be some improvements.” WeWebU is heavily involved in the CMIS standard’s further development. “For example, we had submitted a proposal for annotation handling. After a lively discussion, we got a lot of support from the other TC members”, says James Michel and commends the good cooperation, “These three days fully packed with technical discussions, product presentations and software tests really pushed us forward. CMIS is the future of ECM and WeWebU takes an active part in it.”

For more detailed information on the CMIS Plugfest, please read James Michel’s notes at http://openworkdesk.org/phpbbforum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=55.
