WeWebU technology will enable hybrid cloud and mobile content management solutions

London, UK/Herzogenaurach, Germany – January 31, 2013 – Today Alfresco, the open platform for business-critical content management and collaboration, announced it has acquired WeWebU Software AG, a leading provider of content-centric business applications based in Germany. WeWebU strengthens Alfresco’s portfolio of enterprise solutions by delivering configurable, role-based file and transactional content management capabilities on top of the Alfresco platform.

“Alfresco’s acquisition of WeWebU represents a key milestone in our efforts toward delivering critical content-centric applications to enterprises worldwide,” said Doug Dennerline, CEO of Alfresco. “Alfresco and WeWebU already have existing joint customers and common partners, together we share a common vision of delivering seamless content solutions that work inside the enterprise, the cloud and across mobile devices.”

The combination of Alfresco and WeWebU will allow customers to streamline content-centric business processes such as contract, deal and eFile management as well as managing employee files and financial document processing. WeWebU adds dynamic, role-based views and virtual folders to Alfresco’s powerful content management platform, making it easier to customize Alfresco to business processes with configuration instead of coding.

According to the Forrester report “Address the Complex Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Landscape,” (1) “ECM vendors will need to abandon their technology-first direction and concentrate on developing repeatable solutions that solve real business problems. These solutions focus on automating the business process and providing content management capabilities that streamline the content capture to content action timeline.”

WeWebU provides applications that allow organizations such as Swiss Accident Insurance (SUVA), Mannheimer Insurance and the public sector - from national to local unleashing their enterprise information. In addition, WeWebU features desktop and office suite integration and brings the same usability to the iPad and iPhone by fully integrating mobile users into processes and workflows.

“Organizations around the world have managed to move away from paper and streamline their business processes with WeWebU,” said Stefan Waldhauser, CEO of WeWebU. “We are excited to join Alfresco and combine our expertise to create and help deliver the future of business-critical content management and collaboration.”

WeWebU will operate as an integrated business called Alfresco Business Solutions with Waldhauser leading the new business unit.
