What 2019 Looks Like for Internet of Things Technology

What 2019 Looks Like for Internet of Things Technology

Whether you are an entrepreneur looking to stay on top of the next wave of digitization or a consumer who is discovering home automation for the first time, there’s a 99% chance that the Internet of Things (IoT) is going to affect yet another area of you or your company’s existence in 2019.

Precisely what aspects of personal life or business are going to benefit the most from net-tech innovation is difficult to pinpoint considering it’s already all over the place. Below, however, we cover some of the broad strokes of what you can expect from the IoT trends 2019.

IMPROVEMENTS IN CUSTOMER SERVICE UX ON E-COMMERCE PLATFORMS

User experience (UX) was the top concern for almost every E-commerce business on the planet last year. Mega-corporations such as Uber, Amazon, Walmart, Apple, and Microsoft made measurable strides in how in almost every area of the platform including product descriptions, account setup and management, ordering, customer service, simpler navigation, and multi-media features.

Over the next 12 months, companies will focus on the omnichannel customer experience approach by using smart technology, automation, and big data to refine the holy trinity of UX: proactive, predictive and personalized experiences. By gathering enormous amounts of data, digital-based entities can predict site maintenance issues, monitor customer purchasing habits, gauge product performance, improve journey mapping (the process of online shopping from product search to product ordering), and engage with consumers through smart technology, i.e., home, personal, and car automation.

INNOVATIVE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN SMART CITIES AND RESIDENTS

City leaders will utilize network technology to engage with residents in a more direct way to create win-win situations through gamification and compensation. For instance, residents can gain reward or points for helping in the community by paying utilities on time, reporting improvement in the city’s infrastructure, enforcing the law, or using public and government services.

City officials will also utilize IoT technology to improve safety, address traffic issues, monitor economic trends, and communicate with residents and business owners through all available communication devices. Major metropolitan areas can adopt IoT to develop programs that promote sustainability, efficiency, and green solutions in the city’s infrastructure.

ADVANCEMENTS IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY

As healthcare providers continue to make strides in patient diagnosis, medical treatment, and patient outcomes, the Internet of Things has played a pivotal role in scientific and technological breakthroughs. Medical experts now share and access data through digital devices and platforms. For example, X-rays, patient records, EKGs, CT scans, and MRIs are now undergoing digitization.

Developers are now creating machines that produce detailed diagnostic imagery with pinpoint accuracy. X-ray machines are no longer spitting out vague transparent images of injuries or conditions. They are now going one step further by producing life-like, 3-D images using more advanced sensors. The images and accompanying data can now be passed around from device to device within minutes to deliver doctors critical information when they need it fast – say, in the ER.

This technology will create a more streamlined healthcare system. It will also help providers reduce costs in treatment and manual processes and allow researchers to work together to find cures for diseases and improve patient outcome in 2019.
