A Montana log cabin built for dog sled training
Bill Smith, the winning Montana dog musher has a new log cabin located in the Deer Lodge Forest near the Continental Divide in south-west Montana. This log cabin has three spacious bedrooms along with two baths and provides all the comforts of a modern luxury lodge. Here is the ideal place to train sled dogs, hunt elk or just take a leisurely hike through the Rocky Mountains. Remnants of old mining camps can still be visited within a few miles from the cabin. Here is a great place for groups, workshops, entertainment or just relaxing in the mountains.Mount Powell dominates the western landscape from the town of Deer Lodge. Long know as the "Museum Capital of Southwestern Montana", Deer Lodge has many interesting museums. A feeling of being a hundred years in the past comes with the two horse trolley ride from one end of Main Street to the other. Side trips through the residential part of town are available too.
Located between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, you can dog sled, hunt, fish, boat and hike any direction from the cabin. Winter snow makes snowmobiling trail rides are a great way to explore the near wilderness area. Excellent big game hunting is available in the immediate forest area, an ideal playground for the sports minded. Cross country skiing is great out the front door and a downhill ski lodge is about an hour away. Summer opens the back country to four-wheeling, mountain biking, dirt biking, horse back riding on hundreds of miles of old logging roads. There are many hiking and biking trails for both the young and old, where you will experience the breathtaking beauty of this magical land we call the “Big Sky Country”!
Montana’s many scenic wonders and attractions contribute to the joy of our visitors. Prime trout fishing can be experienced in the many lakes and streams of the area and even the kids can catch a nice trout.
The excitement of bird hunting is available, and big game hunting is a major activity. If you are one who hunts with a camera, wildlife in great variety can be observed in the local valley, bench land and mountains. Mountain wildflowers also abound in this area.
