Universal Soul Love Day: The New Holiday Focusing On Compassion, Not Commercialism

Sydney, Australia - December 29, 2018 - The commercialism and consumerism of the festive period doesn't sit well with many people. What was once a celebration of love and togetherness has become something different; it has become a time for spending, a time of loyalty to brands rather than to our fellow human beings, and, for millions of people across the world, a time of stress, strain, and struggling to make ends meet.

A new holiday offers the antidote to this. January 8 will see the celebration of the first Universal Soul Love Day; a day of kindness, compassion, unity, and love for those who feel that the modern world is somewhat lacking in all four.

On Universal Soul Love Day, people will come together to give thanks to the Creator for the universe and for all that is good in their lives, they will exchange homemade gifts with love and personal meaning at their heart, rather than a flashy price tag, they will hug their loved ones and those who are special to them, they will plant trees rather than chop them down, and they will give time and effort to those less fortunate. In short, it will be a special time, filled with random acts of kindness, and that feeling of warmth and love that so often gets lost in the heady world of Christmas decorations and January sales.

The idea for the holiday came from Detective David Love and Dr Lana Love, the team behind Universal Soul Love Limited. Universal Soul Love Ltd is a faith-based organisation and a registered charity in both Australia and the United States. The aims behind the organisation are simple—to increase the spiritual awareness of people across the world, regardless of their own religious beliefs or background, and to foster personal growth and an altogether more harmonious global environment based upon this.

Dr Lana—herself a qualified medical doctor and psychotherapist—describes some of the ways that people might want to celebrate the holiday;

"Hug your family, your friends, or perhaps even a random stranger," Dr Lana says, "random uncontrolled acts of kindness are to be expected and may last for the entire year. This leads to an unexplained warm fuzzy feeling in the chest which spreads through the body, and even to other people in your vicinity."
