Feb 23, 2010: Full service digital agency Experience Commerce is handling the digital responsibilities of Young Driver 2010 – a campaign, organized by Autocar and Maruti Suzuki to spread awareness about the importance of safe driving among young drivers nationwide.
Experience Commerce launched the Young Driver website (youngdriver.in) which has so far facilitated nearly 10,000 online safety tests. By encouraging test takers to share their scores on social networks (Facebook, Twitter & email address books) and by incorporating tools to allow viral sharing on site, the digital agency was able to leverage the viral power of social media to build awareness.
The design of the site has been very successful in converting incoming traffic. Of all the unique visitors who visited Young Driver, 49% registered and 31% took the online safety test. To engage the audience beyond the online quiz, a blog on safety was set up with frequent updates on safety, insights on the contest, and input for 2009 contestants and winners. The blog and the social networks have ensured a two way discussion is possible – something that most generic online contests are missing.
“The campaign is being promoted through email marketing and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. We have also encouraged people to join the campaign page on Facebook. We see more information spreading using conventional channels such as email share, possibly because of the more mature profile of audience,” Sandip Maiti, CEO, Experience Commerce.
Young drivers can participate in the online contest until Feb 25, 2010.

Maruti Suzuki - Autocar Young Driver 2010 is a nationwide search for India’s best young driver; the winner of this competition will become the Ambassador of safe driving. This competition tests the driver’s knowledge of traffic rules, awareness of road safety and their real-world driving skill, thereby encouraging the study of road ethics. The test comprises of a total of 40 questions which, after qualifying, takes them to the simulator and practical test round, conducted at 31 Maruti Driving Schools across India. This contest is open to all individuals, between the age of 18 and 30, with a valid Indian driving license. The winner will take home a Maruti-Suzuki A-star.
