Tangible upturn in the mobile communications market

Press release from: Orga Systems GmbH

Real-time charging plays a key role for the introduction of new services

Paderborn (Germany), 6 October 2009 – Although the economic downturn has not spared the telecommunications industry, this sector was still less severely affected than others. It would be too early to talk about a clear recovery. However, the upward trend is noticeable. In the developed industrialized countries, but also in potential growth markets, the demand for new mobile services is growing. Also influenced by state programs to bolster the economy, the infrastructure necessary to be able to provide attractive next generation services for mobile customers is also emerging in development regions. Real-time charging plays a key role for the profitable launch of new services. Orga Systems, which has been a real-time charging expert for 15 years, offers in its portfolio the adequate modules to successfully establish and expand mobile business in the future.

Ready for Convergence
With next-generation services in place, telecom operators are facing a new situation in terms of real-time service authorization, session management, charging and pricing. Future-proof online charging systems, meeting these challenges and providing differentiated real-time charging capabilities for advanced 3G, data and IMS-based services, are necessary. These capabilities are fundamental to assure the quick launch of sophisticated charging models, promotional pricing campaigns as well as innovative bundles.

Orga Systems’ highly modular online charging system consists of the OPSC Gold real-time rating & charging environment as well as dedicated mediation and charging functions. These are provided by Orga Systems’ SCP – for Camel-based services – and the Media Control Point (MCP™) for data charging, IP-sessions and Diameter based events.

The online charging system can seamlessly be extended to function as a convergent charging system for online and offline charging. In addition, the rating and charging environment can be extended with the OPSC Gold Billing module and complementary payment functions. This expands the rating and charging system into a comprehensive end-to-end solution for convergent billing.
