RALEIGH, N.C. (August 13, 2009)—Brooks Malone, partner at Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, has been appointed to the North Carolina State University Department of Accounting Advisory Council. Malone is serving a three-year term on the council and its strategic planning committee.

"Brooks remains dedicated to the success of the university and its students," says Frank Buckless, head of the North Carolina State University Department of Accounting. "His 20 years of accounting experience are beneficial to students in the department that are aspiring to achieve the same level of success that he has achieved throughout the years."

Responsibilities include keeping them aware of the needs and opportunities of the business community and engaging them in strategic discussions concerning curriculum development and student placement. In addition, Malone is helping to create exceptional opportunities for students in areas such as internships and scholarships.

"As an NCSU graduate and partner-in-charge of recruiting at HPG, I believe I am in a good position to give real-time input to the department, school and university, and am committed to working diligently with the strategic planning committee and entire Advisory Council," says Malone. "We have been very impressed with the quality and character of the interns and staff we have hired from NCSU and believe it is one of the best accounting programs in the southeast."
