Taipei, Taiwan May 22, 2006 – Cayin Technology today officially announces its new web-based media player, SMP-WEB+, tailored for more professional and profound dynamic digital signage applications. SMP-WEB+ features for both landscape and portrait demonstrations and can display HD (High Definition) video for you to deliver the most high quality presentation. This announcement demonstrates Cayin’s commitment to endeavor to provide the market the most competitive products and new application extents.

SMP-WEB+ is a web-based digital signage player of SMP-WEB series, developed with Cayin’s hardened embedded Linux and further distinguished by its powerful flexibility and diversifiability for satisfying different vertical markets’ demands. SMP-WEB+ helps more easily accomplish in-depth digital signage solutions.

This system supports most popular web languages, such as HTML, JavaScript, Macromedia Flash, DHTML, CSS, etc., and displays all multimedia contents in full-screen web pages. SMP-WEB+ supports most popular image file formats, audio/video codec, and, furthermore, HD (High Definition) movies, such as MPEG 1/2/4, AVI, WMV, DivX, MP3, JPG, GIF, etc. In addition to video, images, animations, and texts, SMP-WEB+ can easily extend to provide interactive services incorporating with external devices such as touch screen, keyboard, keypad, or mouse.

In addition to the landscape presentation, SMP-WEB+ can further support the portrait digital signage applications. You can use a normal plasma TV or a TFT-LCD display and choose to rotate your multimedia content clockwise or counter clockwise, including HTML, Flash, image, and video. Simply by a single click on the Web Manager, Cayin’s web-based management tool, you can easily display dynamic portrait digital posters in various out-of-home occasions.

The new released SMP-WEB+ offers more useful features. You can turn on or turn off the on-site display remotely from your own PC and even can schedule the time period during which you hope to turn off the display to save energy and costs. SMP-WEB+ also supports the NTP service, which synchronizes the clocks of media players over a network.

SMP-WEB+ is an open-structure and scalable platform for easy integration. This solution can be deployed either as a ”networked standalone solution” or under server-client structure over wired or wireless IP network, and can integrate easily with customers’ existing network facilities, including web server, database, storage, backup, and load balance. This solution can also support DHCP, and each media player doesn’t need one static IP for remote management over the Internet.

SMP-WEB+ is compact and easy for installation. Cayin understands the needs for efficient on-site installation and especially designs a new product which integrates the power adapter inside the player. We also provide a mounting bracket for you to mount SMP-WEB+ on the wall easily and safely.

Digital signage, also known as narrowcasting or electronic billboard, is a network of signs that use digital displays to communicate with target audiences in designate locations by high-quality video, audio, animation, graphics, and texts. Replacing and enhancing traditional signs, digital signage offers a multimedia communication platform to promote, inform, educate, and entertain specific audiences in a variety of out-of-home occasions.
