trac-x Trading Results in July
Leipzig, 5 August 2009 – In the day-ahead section of the European trading platform trac-x a total capacity of 410 MWh/h was sold in July. Overall, 33 out of 2,537 (93,959 MWh/h) day-ahead procedures offered on the platform were successfully sold. At the cross-border point Bunde/Oude Statenzijl (entry) the average price for traded day-ahead capacities amounted to € 8.00 per MWh/h per day. At the network point Steinitz (exit) it amounted to an average of € 1.00 per MWh/h per day. Moreover, day-ahead capacities at the network point Emden NPT were offered on www.trac-x.de for the first time in July as well.In the long-term section of the platform a total of 197.1 GWh/h per day (placed capacities: 235.9 GWh/h per day) was traded in July. Altogether, one out of 13 long-term capacities offered on the platform was successfully purchased. July’s long-term capacities were placed on the platform with contract periods ranging from one month up to one year.
Since the platform’s trading start in March 2005, the overall trading volume on trac-x has reached 55,538.91 GWh/h per day. This amount includes 132.01 GWh/h per day from day-ahead trading.
trac-x Transport Capacity Exchange GmbH was established in order to create a transparent and non-discriminatory trading platform for trading secondary natural gas transport capacity. It has operated a trading platform for European gas transport capacity since March 2005. Currently, more than 410 traders from 19 countries are registered on www.trac-x.de. They can trade secondary capacity rights across Europe and within the networks of the following transmission system operators: Dong Energy Pipelines GmbH, E.ON Gastransport GmbH, EWE NETZ GmbH, Thyssengas GmbH, Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH, Ontras GmbH and WINGAS TRANSPORT GmbH & Co. KG.
In addition to long-term trading, firm day-ahead capacity rights at the cross-border point Bunde/Oude Statenzijl (between Germany and the Netherlands) have been tradable on the platform since May 2008. Moreover, due to close collaboration with European network operators, it is possible to trade day-ahead capacities at further cross-border points as well as German interconnection points. Thus, day-ahead capacities can also be traded at the cross-border points Eynatten/Raeren, Ellund, Emden EPT, Emden NPT, Bochholtz, Medelsheim, Oberkappel, Vreden and Wallbach as well as at the German interconnection points Reckrod, Bunder Tief, Lampertheim, Drohne, Emsbüren, Steinbrinck und Steinitz.

On the European platform trac-x transport capacity trading totalled 574.65 GWh/h in August.
This includes 140 MWh/h traded in the day-ahead section of trac-x, where 14 out of the 1,910 (67.634 MWh/h) offered day-ahead entries were successfully sold.
