Press release from: Canoo Engineering AG

The best known and most comprehensive online reference resource for German is now also available for free in the iPhone App Store.

Basel, 20th. July 2009. After a successful career as a payed application in the iPhone App Store, Canoo is now presenting CanooNet mobile free of charge „We are very pleased to offer the best known and most comprehensive reference resource for German for free with immediate effect“ says Hans-Dirk Walter, CEO of Canoo Engineering. „There is no alternative to CanooNet mobile, even if a user is willing to invest around 30 euros“, adds Stephan Bopp, linguist at Canoo, in view of other German language applications available for the iPhone (e.g. Duden).

CanooNet mobile answers almost any question you might have about German, be it about spelling, word forms, word formation, synonyms, translations, or definitions. Spelling information for more than 3 million word forms (including more than 25.000 example phrases); synonyms and related words of more than 100.000 headwords; definitions of many linguistic terms, all this is very easily accessible thanks to a format that is optimized for small screen devices and a phonetic search – you can use CanooNet mobile while travelling, in a meeting, in a coffee bar, or even on the beach.

And there is even more: A cooperation with LEO (http://dict.leo.org) allows you to access, through a few simple clicks, translations into English, Italian, Spanisch, French, and Chinese. And, in case you need more background information, you can directly access Wikipedia, which, of course, is also optimized for small mobile devices!

The German newspaper "Handelsblatt" characterized CanooNet as "an excellent online reference resource one would like to have close at hand at any time" (Handelsblatt, 27-03-2008) – a wish that now has come true!
