SMC Networks Expands Range of ADSL2/2+ Modem Routers
SMC Networks (smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced the launch of the SMC7901WBRA2 and the SMC7904BRA3, two new combined ADSL2/2+ Modem Routers capable of delivering download speeds of 24Mbps (uplink 2Mbps) and streaming high-quality multimedia content to the home or small office. Both the SMC7901WBRA2 and the SMC7904BRA3 come in a sleek new white colour design and provide a simple, one-step upgrade path for sharing ADSL2/2+ connections across multiple PCs by combining a Modem and a Router in one box. The Modem Routers are ideal for delivering IPTV, Video on Demand and other high bandwidth services while eliminating the need for extra wiring or an additional power socket.
The SMC7901WBRA2 Wireless ADSL2/2+ Modem Router is a highly integrated broadband access device combining the function of an ADSL2/2+ modem with a 1-port LAN (RJ-45) connection and a 54Mbps wireless G access point (IEEE 802.11b/g). The SMC7904BRA3 is for those that don’t require wireless access and features a 4-port 10/100 LAN switch. Both products come complete with a robust SPI firewall and are interoperable with all ISP network infrastructures, making them the complete solution for sharing secure, high speed ADSL2/2+ Broadband connections.
Thierry Gonon, General Manager EMEA at SMC Networks comments: “The availability of high-speed ADSL2+ services has reached as high as 90% in some European countries. More and more ISPs are rolling out the technology to support IPTV, video-on-demand other exciting multimedia services. These new modem routers provide our residential and small business customers with all they need to get connected and take advantage of the fantastic range of services now on offer in a simple, integrated package that is great value for money.”
Features:
• Quality-of-Service gives priority to real-time, delay sensitive applications like Voice-over-IP and video-on-demand; improving user experience
• NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Intrusion Detection System (IDS) & Denial-of-Service (DoS) provides robust security from hackers.
