SMC Networks Launches New VDSL2 Extended Ethernet Solution

Barcelona, 1st September. SMC Networks (smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced the launch of the SMC7824M/VSW 24-port switch and SMC7801A/VCP CPE unit – two new VDSL2 products that form a complete Extended Ethernet solution for providing High Definition (HD) internet media service over standard telephone wiring.
Delivering up to 100Mbps broadband connection speeds over distances up to 250 metres, SMC’s VDSL2 Extended Ethernet solution provides a highly cost-effective way of delivering services such as HDTV streaming and Video On Demand – without the need to install expensive Cat5 Ethernet cabling.
Frank Emmerlich, Product Marketing Manager for SMC Networks commented: “For several years we have supplied industry-leading VDSL solutions to major hotels around the world. Our VDSL2 technology takes this capability to a new level and is perfect for multi-unit environments that want to deliver next generation media services, but without the hassle or cost of rewiring the building. It’s the best way for hospitality providers to add real value to the services they offer to their guests, and without suffering any disruption to their business.”

SMC7824M/VSW
The SMC7824/VSW is a 24 port, high-density VDSL2 switch with 2 Gigabit Copper ports for uplinks, delivering up to 100Mbps Upstream and 100Mbps downstream bandwidth.
