The above picture shows the functionality of the fdtCONTAINER OPC Server: Any type of OPC-Client application is linked to the OPC Namespace via the OPC Standard-Interfaces. The respective DTMs are used for the communication with the field devices.

With the new product fdtCONTAINER OPC Server M&M Software offers an unique tool which enables the trouble-free access of device parameters even in heterogeneous Fieldbus environments.
The new product is specially meant for the connection of Condition Monitoring and Asset Management applications.

What makes the fdtCONTAINER OPC Server so special is the combination of the well-proven technologies FDT and OPC.
The tried and tested fdtCONTAINER component has been integrated into an OPC-Server and allows the use of DTMS within this OPC Server. The DTMs are loaded into the OPC-Server and enable the communication and the exchange of data with the devices. The OPC Server transfers the identified data into the respective OPC-Namespace. This namespace need not be created manually, but is generated automatically from the existing network topology. In this way, any OPC-capable clients can access the provided data via standard OPC-Interfaces.

The fdtCONTAINER OPC Server provides to the user a holistic solution for the configuration of the network, the device parameterization and the linking of data. This saves a substantial amount of time and costs both in the engineering phase and in the future operating phase. The solution is independent from the applied devices, the network structure and the applied protocols. It enables the user to use the best device for the specific task without having to compromise on the comfortable handling or the usable scope of functionality. The fact that the data of all field devices are made accessible makes it easier to implement central, inter-plant condition monitoring solutions.
