Wireless Work Order Time Collection with PocketPC (PDA) and integrated Barcode Scanner
MRP / ERP System expanded with browser-based Plant Data Collection
Through introduction of wireless networks (WiFi) on the shop floor and in combination with industrial WiFi-Pocket-PCs, new technical opportunities have emerged just recently. By using mobile computers based on the operating system Windows CE, work order data can be collected flexibly and with little investment costs. The wireless connection to the enterprise application “EVO competition” allows for immediate transmission of work order data back to administration and production planning.
For mobile data collection, the software producer EVO focuses on the use of manufacturer-independent Open Source technologies. Data communication with any number of mobile devices is based on an Application Server with Web Server. Entering work order data at the PDA with integrated barcode scanner is done through its pre-installed Internet browser. No additional software needs to be installed on the mobile device.
Thanks to industry-grade PDAs, expensive industrial PCs are not required for collecting work order data on the shop floor. In addition, wireless networks eliminate the need of wiring extensive productions halls.
