Irish Companies Excel in National Business Competitions

Despite al the doom and gloom surrounding the Irish economy where it’s hard to listen to any more bad news from George Lee, RTE’s Economics Editor, about downturn, credit crunch, cutbacks and the like, it is genuinely optimistic to hear about Donegal companies who are getting ahead and not letting this cloud overcome their business.

Nvolve limited, a Letterkenny based firm who specialise in learning and software technologies and NW Aluminium from Kilmacrennan have been shortlisted in National competitions which acknowledge business acumen within Donegal. Nvolve recently won the Export Potential Awards at the finals at the Shell LiveWIRE Entrepreneur Awards 2008 at a ceremony held in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. Earlier this year Nvolve also win the Innovation Award at the Donegal County Enterprise Awards 2008 which is a true testament of their ability to succeed.

No stranger to winning entrepreneurship Awards, NW Aluminium was the overall winner in the 2008 Donegal Enterprise Awards and is shortlisted for the National Awards run by Enterprise Boards in Ireland. Despite NW Aluminium main market being in the construction industry, which has vastly deteriorated in the last 6 months, this company is defying this trend and is steadily growing. Michael Tunney, CEO, Donegal County Enterprise Board says, “Once again Donegal entrepreneurs are showing their skills to spot a growing niche and their ability to deliver a product to fill it. Both these businesses reflect innovative approached in traditional and technology industries, proving that Donegal is a viable location. We are very pleased that NW Aluminium is shortlisted in the National Enterprise Award. Congratulations to Nvolve on their win in the Shell LiveWIRE Awards.”

These companies represent a tradition of determination, creativity and drive within Donegal to take forward their own personal vision and to make it work no matter what challenges are placed in front of them. Technology advances has made the world a much smaller place as Lee Tedstone, Director of Nvolve Limited has witnessed “Just this morning I closed a deal in Springfield, Tennessee and have recently secured business in Dubai in advance of a trade mission later on this month.”

It is evident that we will be witnessing a lot more activity from these companies in the future whatever the challenge, whatever the climate because it is their hard work and talent which makes them succeed in business and makes talk of the downturn oblivious to all involved.

Nvolve limited specialise in learning technologies and software development. Their product range consists of software development, Nvolve Response Blended Learning Solution, elearning courses and an audience response technology system.
