Novus FieldLogger for Modbus Applications
Flexible Data Logger Records Analog & Digital SignalsWith 8 universal channels for connection with different sensor types, the Novus FieldLogger is an ideal Modbus RTU input device, for example to transmit data as part of a SCADA system. Designed to handle any analog input, the FieldLogger can operate linked to a PC for online recording/supervision or as a stand-alone data logger with real-time and graph capabilities.
8-Channel Modbus RTU
With the speed and flexibility to handle analog and digital signals at high sample rates, the affordable Novus FieldLogger is ideal for many different data acquisition and temperature monitoring applications. The logger supports several types of thermocouples as well as Pt100, mA, mV and higher voltages. The logger also provides internal cold junction compensation for thermocouples, resulting in high-accuracy measurements.
Additionally, the FieldLogger has a digital input for remote start/stop and 2 alarm relay channels which can be activated when any channel enters a programmed alarm condition; these relays can also be used as digital outputs. The FieldLogger is DIN rail-compatible and includes a 35mm rail mounting in an ABS enclosure.
The Novus FieldLogger also features an RS485 interface allowing communication up to 1.6 miles (1 Km). For users without an RS485 port on their PC, Novus also manufactures an easy-to-use USB-RS485/RS422 converter, transforming an ordinary USB port into a fully-functional RS485 interface. The FieldLogger can also connect to a cloud server, giving users access to its data from anywhere at any time.
Configuration is stored in the logger’s non-volatile memory, and configuration and data retrieval are managed using a PC along with the included software. The logger can also perform mathematical operations in the input channels.
Graphing Software Included!
Free downloadable FieldChart software is Windows-compatible, handling the communication and setup for the FieldLogger and Novus controllers with RS485. The main module collects data for the PC, displays the data in both digital and graphic formats in real time, and provides trend and historical views. Users can zoom in and out, print graphs, and export to spreadsheets like Excel ™.
In addition to its standard use as a Modbus RTU, for online reading and recording, FieldChart also reads and generates a data graph for a 10-minute period. Users needing more in-depth data analysis can opt for the full version of FieldChart analysis software to form a sophisticated data acquisition system.
