Press release from: Sugatsune Kogyo Co. Ltd.

Lateral Door Opening System, "LIN-X1000", made by industrial components and
furniture hardware manufacturer Sugatsune Kogyo (HQ: Tokyo, Japan), has won a highly
coveted and prestigious 2017 Red Dot award for product design. The Red Dot is an
internationally recognized sought after seal of quality based in Germany. The LIN-X1000
also was awarded a Good Design Award in 2016.
What is the Red Dot Award?
Established in 1955, the Red Dot Award is decided by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein
Westfalen in Essen, Germany. The award features products which have been released in
the last two years and recognized for being outsanding. This year, over 5500 products
were submitted from 54 different countries. Products are judged by international specialists
who appraise the functions, innovativeness, quality amongst 9 different standards. Along
with the iF Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards, it is one of the 3
biggest design awards in the world.
About LINX-1000
Sugatsune's Lateral Door Opening System Series is notable for opening and closing
flat and parallel to the wall. This item is able to handle doors that are much larger than any
other in its product series. It is capable of working with doors with widths up to 1100mm,
with a largest opening width of 900mm, it can be used in areas where wheelchairs access.
The largest height of door it can be used with is 2980mm. The LIN-X1000 is capable of
being used with doors with a weight of up to 90kg. It has a built in damper which causes
the door to close silently whether the door is lighter or heavier. Because the opening radius
is approximately half of a regular hinge, it can be used in narrower spaces. It also has fewer
parts than conventional items, making it much easier to install.

Sugatsune is one of the leading manufacturers of metal hardware. Our wide variety of high quality products covers such fields as residential or office furniture, architectural and industrial parts as well as disaster prevention.
