Handistep - Innovating Safety by Integrating Brigade’s

Handistep is a unique rear step system designed for light commercial vehicles which enables the driver to enter and exit the rear of the vehicle safely and aide’s safe access to the roof-rack.

Backscan, the reversing sensors designed by Brigade and specifically modified for Handistep, aid the BT (British Telecommunication) driver when he cannot see in the blind spot behind his van. Backscan informs the driver of the distance between the vehicle and any person or obstacle at the rear. Brigade’s reversing sensors minimise reversing damage and provide protection for people and objects whether moving or stationary.

As soon as reverse gear is engaged, Brigade’s system scans the rear of the vehicle and a three stage warning is given to the driver. The patent Dynamic Scanning memory (DSM) technology prevents false alarms from tow hooks, rear mounted tyres and other ancillary equipment that intrudes into the sensors detection zone.

The pre wired IP68 rated connection plugs offer a quality product unlike any other sensors on the market. The reversing sensors are vibration proof and have been RoHS and EMC tested and approved. Flush mount and slim line, they are easily fitted to the steps. All Handistep frames feature the necessary holes and spacing in the metal work, enabling retrofitting of the reversing sensors if required.

Further additions to the reversing kit specification include dash mounted parking distance digital read out - increasing the effectiveness of the sensors and enabling the driver to see the distance of the object or person in relation to the back of the vehicle.

Brigade Electronics have been pioneers of reversing safety for over 30 years, helping to significantly reduce work related accidents caused by reversing and lack of all round visibility. Brigade can provide bespoke solutions for all types of commercial vehicles from vans and trucks to mobile plant including broad band sound reversing alarms, sensors, blind spots mirrors, camera - monitor systems and collision avoidance systems for motorway driving.

The Handistep system increases the safety of drivers and the added Brigade sensors allow the driver to manoeuvre safely while protecting the public.
