A Cochrane systematic review of spinal manipulative therapy for chronic low-back pain, cited by NCCIH, similarly found that spinal manipulation performs about as well as other established treatments for low-back pain, including exercise and standard medical care. NCCIH notes that outcomes vary by patient, and that spinal manipulation is best understood as one option among several - including exercise, massage and physical therapy - that can provide mild-to-moderate relief.

Who May Be a Candidate
