Counselor Sheri Sanderson Releases "Billy Monkey Stays Up All Night," a Rhyming Bedtime Picture Book, With Free Printable Activity Sheets for Families

Written and illustrated by Sanderson, Billy Monkey Stays Up All Night follows Billy through all the reasons a bedtime can go sideways, from one more snack to one more song to one more very important thing he simply must do first. The rhyme carries the story at a read-aloud pace, and the ending lands somewhere every tired parent will recognize.
The book grew out of Sanderson's work with children and families. As a counselor, she has spent years sitting with parents who are worn down by the same nightly negotiation, and she wanted a story that treats it with humor rather than a lecture. Billy is not a cautionary tale. He is the kid at the top of the stairs asking for a glass of water.
Free activity sheets for parents, teachers and caregivers
Alongside the release, Sanderson has opened a free activities section on her website at sherisanderson.com/activities. The page offers printable sheets built around the book, including coloring pages, puzzles and simple at-home activities that families can download at no cost. New sheets will be added over time, including a "Monkey Tails" recipe page that walks children through making frozen chocolate-covered bananas with Billy guiding each step.
The sheets are free to print for home, classroom and library use.

Sheri Sanderson is a counselor based in Richmond, Texas, who works with children and families. She is also the author of Incredible Edible: Gluten-Free Food for Kids, a cookbook of family-tested recipes that sold more than 18,900 copies before going out of print in 2020. Billy Monkey Stays Up All Night is her first picture book, and she both wrote and illustrated it.
