This final volume in the acclaimed series offers a richly detailed exploration of Parker Ranch's evolution during a pivotal era, chronicling its transformation under new leadership and its enduring impact on Hawaii's cultural and agricultural legacy.
In the words of the book's foreword: "Volume 4 reads like a novel, full of the ranch's history yet interwoven with personal stories, as the reader witnesses changes in the governance of the ranch, changes in management and personnel at all levels, and transformations in the cattle and horse programs." This engaging narrative and comprehensive scope make it both an essential historical record and an enthralling read.
Dr. Bergin's candid and vivid storytelling style brings the ranch's untold stories to life. As described: "Kauka Billy tells it as he sees it, and at times ka makani kipu'upu'u o Waimea ('the blustery kipu'upu'u winds of Waimea') manage to kick up a little dust."
This volume also honors the individuals who are at the heart of Parker Ranch.
