Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan's Geneva Sullivan Named Marriott Department Leader of the Year
Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan's Geneva Sullivan Honored as Marriott Department Leader of the YearSHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Wisco Hotel Group is proud to announce that Geneva Sullivan, Operations Manager at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan, has been recognized as the recipient of Marriott's prestigious 2025 Select Brands Hospitality Excellence Award - Department Leader of the Year. The award honors outstanding leaders who demonstrate exceptional operational excellence, inspire their teams, and deliver extraordinary guest experiences.
Geneva's journey with Marriott is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and servant leadership. She joined the Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan as the hotel's Executive Housekeeper, stepping into a property that consistently performs among the top 3% of more than 1,100 Fairfield hotels worldwide. Joining an already award-winning hotel meant inheriting exceptionally high standards, but Geneva embraced the challenge from day one.
As Executive Housekeeper, she earned the respect of both her team and her peers through her hands-on leadership style, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to Marriott's standards. Whether assisting associates on the floor, supporting other departments, or ensuring every guest encountered a spotless and welcoming hotel, Geneva led by example while fostering a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and pride.
In 2025, Geneva accepted the role of Operations Manager, embracing the opportunity to expand her leadership and operational expertise. Since stepping into the position, she has made an immediate and lasting impact across every department of the hotel.
Believing that engaged associates create exceptional guest experiences, Geneva introduced monthly incentive programs for the housekeeping, front desk, and food and beverage teams. Her initiatives fostered greater accountability, strengthened employee morale, and reinforced a culture where every associate felt valued and motivated to succeed.
Her leadership helped propel the Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan to exceed market share in every major performance index throughout 2025. Although the hotel narrowly missed earning its third consecutive Marriott 3 Diamond Award after falling just 95 enrollments short of its Bonvoy goal, Geneva's relentless encouragement and determination inspired the front desk team to pursue excellence until the very end.
One of Geneva's defining accomplishments came during Marriott's companywide rollout of the Power of M operating platform. For six months leading up to implementation, she assumed responsibility for preparing the hotel and its associates for one of the most significant operational transitions in recent years.
She coordinated training, developed detailed reference materials, created department-specific cheat sheets, and ensured every team member felt confident before launch. During cutover week, Geneva worked alongside associates on the front lines, continuously updating procedures, troubleshooting issues, submitting support tickets, and serving as a steady source of guidance and encouragement.
Her calm leadership ensured operational continuity while preserving the exceptional guest experience the Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan is known for.
That commitment is reflected in the hotel's outstanding 2025 performance. Ranked among the top 3% of Fairfield hotels, the property finished #7 out of more than 1,100 Fairfield Inn & Suites locations, achieving exceptional GuestVoice scores including 93.1 for Overall Cleanliness, 92.2 for Staff Service, and 88.3 for Intent to Recommend.
"Geneva exemplifies everything we hope to develop in future hospitality leaders," said Michelle Moehring, General Manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Sheboygan. "She leads with integrity, accountability, and genuine care for both our associates and our guests. From joining our hotel as Executive Housekeeper to becoming our Operations Manager, she has consistently demonstrated an eagerness to learn, grow, and elevate everyone around her. Her resilience, innovation, and passion for excellence make this recognition incredibly well deserved."
As a member of Wisco Hotel Group, Geneva continues to embody Marriott's values through her commitment to operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and team development. Her career serves as an inspiring example of the opportunities available through dedication, continuous learning, and exceptional leadership.
