Discover the Hidden Side of West Lake Short Video Contest Now Accepting Entries
On July 5, the Discover the Hidden Side of West Lake Short Video Contest, hosted by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Xihu District, Hangzhou, officially launched. On opening day, more than 30 university students were invited as the first group of experience officers. Divided into two routes, they explored the "Two Towns and Six Districts" of Xihu District, capturing West Lake's lesser-known side through their cameras. In the eyes of these young creators, the hidden side of West Lake is more than just breathtaking scenery-it's a vibrant urban lifestyle waiting to be explored and experienced.
Hangzhou is world-renowned for West Lake, the city's most iconic cultural landmark. As one of Hangzhou's central urban districts, Xihu District not only preserves the city's rich cultural heritage but also thrives as a hub of creativity and innovation, bringing together creative industry parks, digital innovation districts, and technology hubs. The hidden side of West Lake vividly showcases this diverse urban landscape-from the rolling tea plantations of Longwu Tea Town and the creative spaces of Xiangshan Art Commune to the futuristic atmosphere of Wensan Digital Street and the striking architecture of Tianmuli. Here, natural beauty blends seamlessly with urban vitality, creating a destination where culture, tourism, innovation, and everyday life come together.
Since the contest officially launched, submissions have been pouring in from creators across the country. The competition remains open, and creators are invited to participate in one of three categories: West Lake in Everyday Life, West Lake in Arts & Culture, and West Lake in Technology. Share your unique perspective on the hidden side of West Lake. Entries may be published on Xiaohongshu (RED), Douyin, or Bilibili from now through August 5, using the hashtags #XihuDistrictHangzhou, #DiscoverTheHiddenSideOfWestLake, #MyHiddenSideOfWestLake, #HiddenSideOfWestLake, and #WestLakeMaxxingMap, and participants should also submit their videos to the designated email address.
