Press release from: Enchanted Springs Ranch

SAN ANTONIO – This December, Enchanted Springs Ranch invites families to celebrate the holidays the Old West way at its annual Cowboy Christmas.

Vicki Schmidt, co-owner of Enchanted Springs Ranch with her husband Steve, calls the event a chance for guests to see the Old West in a new way. “We’re going to have the whole place decorated,” she says. “Imagine spending the holidays in an authentic Old West town at Christmas time, with tractor wagon rides, gunfights, horse rides for the kids, and a visit from Cowboy Claus. It’s something you’ll only find in Texas, and only at Enchanted Springs Ranch.” The event will also feature Christmas music, food and drinks for purchase, and a special appearance by Pistol Packin' Paula (www.pistolpackinpaula.com), the award-winning Wild West entertainer.

Steve promises a few special guests as well. “When the kids were visiting with Santa last year,” he explains, “they kept asking him where his reindeer were. So this year, we’re bringing Rudolph and Comet down from the North Pole to join him.” Guests will even be able to take pictures with the reindeer.

Rudolph and Comet will join Woodrow, the saddled Longhorn steer – which is trained to allow kids to sit on – at the ranch’s Wild Animal Park. Other animals guests can see include zebras, antelope, elk, emus, llamas, and even buffalo. “Reindeer are used to winter conditions,” says Steve, “and that’s something you don’t see too much of in Texas. But as a working ranch, we’re very serious about their care and comfort, so we’ve made sure to provide conditions reindeer are accustomed to.”

Cowboy Christmaas continues the ranch’s mission of preserving the traditions of the Old West. “People living in that time and region didn’t have a lot of luxuries” explains Paula, “but at Christmas, they carried on many of the same traditions we have today. They put up decorations, they cooked special meals, they exchanged gifts, and they even sang carols.”

Enchanted Springs Ranch promises to give those carols a Texas twang. “We're open year-round, but we always give the holidays that something extra,” says Vicki, “so bring your kids and your camera. We'll have everything but the snow…then again, it’s Texas, so things can change. Here’s to dreaming of a ‘White Christmas’!”

Cowboy Christmas will take place on Saturday, December 20, from 10AM TO 5PM. Admission is only $12 for adults, and $6 fpr children ages 3-12; children under 3 are free. To reserve tickets, please call 830.249.8222, ext. 203, or 800.640.5917, ext. 203.
