Craftsmanship in its Purest Form
Mellenthin Water Castle, an esteemed Renaissance estate from 1575 in the heart of Usedom Island, has expanded its portfolio of high-quality spirits with a special attraction. In the castle's own Island Distillery, fine Malt Whiskys are created, reflecting a high standard of quality and traditional craftsmanship. Far from industrial mass production, these whiskys are produced in small batches directly on-site in the in-house manufactory. Each bottle is hand-filled, refined, and numbered. What makes them particularly special for collectors: each glass bottle receives an individual laser imprint, worked directly into the glass, making it a distinctive unique piece.

The "Whisky Originalstaerke" Series: Intensity in the Glass
For lovers of characterful distillates, the "Whisky Originalstaerke" (Original Strength Whisky) series offers an unadulterated taste experience. An outstanding example is Cask No. 40 from 2022. This Malt Whisky matured in American oak and is based on a malt blend of Pilsner, Munich, and Caramel malt. With an alcohol content of 65.5% vol, it unfolds complex notes of cassis and rum raisins, accompanied by subtle vanilla and caramel tones. Also new to the range is the "Whisky Originalstaerke PX Sherry Cask Finish". After main maturation in European oak with a high toasting degree, this whisky received a one-year finish in a PX Sherry cask. The result is a malty character with a fine smoky note and impressions of dried fruits like dates and raisins.

"Whisky Verfassung": Fruity Elegance for Connoisseurs
The offering is complemented by the "Whisky Verfassung" (Whisky Filling) series, which, despite a relatively short aging period, is characterized by unusual smoothness and roundness. These editions, such as Cask No. 1 from 2022, impress with a particularly fruity note on the nose and a fresh oak wood aroma. With a more moderate alcohol content of 42% vol, they are ideal companions for relaxed moments of enjoyment in the idyllic hinterland of Usedom. With this series too, each bottle is a hand-finished single bottling, bearing its own unique character and number. Cask No. 40 of the "Whisky Verfassung" series also incorporates the popular aromas of cassis and rum raisins, thus offering a lighter alternative to the Original Strength.

Unique Pieces Through Individual Refinement in the Shop
All new whisky creations are now available both in the on-site castle shop and in the online shop of Mellenthin Water Castle for buyers aged 18 and over. They expand the existing range of fine spirits, which also includes Usedom Dry Gin, Schloss-Aquavit aged in oak barrels, and Baltic Island Rum. Purchasing these whiskys offers visitors the opportunity to take home a true piece of Usedom's distillation art as a souvenir.

Mellenthin Water Castle is a stylishly restored castle complex dating back to 1575, located in the heart of the island of Usedom. With its own brewery, distillery, coffee roastery, and island workshop, it invites guests to stay, celebrate, unwind, and relax. The hotel, harmoniously integrated into the west wing of the complex, offers comfortable rooms furnished with attention to detail, featuring modern and spacious bathrooms. The rooms in the main building are complemented by the attic. This is the castle's former service building, which offers its own room categories, including Comfort Rooms with balconies.
