Weingarten, June 22, 2026 - acontis technologies and ISIT are jointly introducing a solution that enables a complete EtherCAT controller, including functional safety, on a single NVIDIA IGX Thor platform: The acontis EC-Master runs on Linux on the main CPU, while ISIT's FSoE MainInstance runs on the Safety Island of the same device.

The architecture utilizes both processing domains of the platform: The EC-Master controls the EtherCAT network, handles real-time communication, and establishes connections to NVIDIA Isaac open robotics platform and ROS 2, AI and robotics workloads. . In parallel, the ISIT FSoE MainInstance runs on the Arm Cortex-R5 safety cores of the Thor safety island and handles functional safety communication. EC-Master acts as a black channel for FSoE--it transmits the safety data without itself being part of the safety function. The ISIT FSoE stack supports applications up to SIL 3 and draws on more than 30 years of experience in functional safety.

The combination of secure EtherCAT control and AI-capable computing on a single device enables the forward-looking design of robot, humanoid, and machine control systems--while reducing hardware and integration costs.
